How Long Will Aluminium Fascia Last?

Aluminium is known for being a long-lasting material, thanks to its high durability and low maintenance properties. If you want to find out more about the lifespan of aluminium fascia and how to make it last as long as possible, keep on reading!

How long does aluminium fascia last?

Most aluminium fascia is supplied with a guarantee of around 30 years. It’s important to note, though, that this can be lower for coastal areas – this is because the salt in the air can break down the protective oxide layer in the aluminium.

However, this doesn’t mean that aluminium fascia can’t last any longer than 30 years, as with the right maintenance it can last even longer!

What maintenance does aluminium fascia require?

Firstly, to minimise the amount of cleaning for your aluminium fascias and soffits, then you should be sure to keep your gutters clear of leaves and debris, too. Check your gutters regularly for any blockages, particularly in autumn and winter, where heavy rainfall and fallen leaves can block things up. Keeping your gutters clear will mean less dirt on your fascia and soffit, meaning less cleaning over time!

To clean your aluminium fascia and soffit, all you’ll need is a garden hosepipe and a soft bristle brush. Scrub away any surface dirt gently, being careful not to scrub away the protective layer of the aluminium.

You’ll only need to do this as and when you notice surface dirt on the roofline – make sure to keep an eye on it throughout the year, again particularly during autumn and winter.

This maintenance alone will not only extend the lifespan of your aluminium roofline, it’ll keep it looking extra sharp and sleek!
