Much like other popular capping board finishes such as storm grey and dark grey, black cover boards feature a smooth finish as opposed to a woodgrain effect, giving off a more modern and sleek appearance. Black is the darkest option that we offer in our smooth cover board range.

Yes, inevitably black fascias will fade over time, mainly due to UV exposure. However, it is worth noting that all of our Freefoam fascia boards are manufactured with extra UV protection in mind, which will drastically reduce the speed and severity to which the black itself will fade compared to black painted timber fascias as well as PVC boards from other manufacturers.
Black fascia does get hot during sunnier periods due to heat absorption, much like any dark surface outdoors. Freefoam’s fascia boards are designed with this in mind however, as the UPVC material will only expand and contract within a safe range and unlike timber fascias, they will not warp or distort.
Our smooth black fascia boards have a single tone, sleek and contemporary black finish, which is often favoured by those working on new build or contemporary projects. ColourMax pigments are added directly to the PVC co-extruded layer.
Black ash fascia boards feature a woodgrain effect, which will be visible from a distance, especially when in direct sunlight. The woodgrain option has a laminate foil and is a great choice for replacing old timber fascias on Tudor-style properties. We offer both smooth and woodgrain black fascias to provide options for all types of projects.
