What is a soffit board?
Soffit boards are long horizontal boards that fit under the roofline, perpendicular to the wall. Along with fascia boards or cover boards, soffit boards give the roofline a completely weatherproof seal.
Soffit is the name given to the board that runs horizontally from the back edge of the bottom of the fascia board to the top of the wall, closing off the roof space at the eaves. Soffit Boards can be plain or vented, and there is also a cost-effective hollow version which has a tongued and grooved effect to mimic timber cladding. Soffit is non load-bearing.
We sell Vented Soffit which complies with UK Building Regulations by providing the equivalent ventilation of continuous a 10mm wide air gap, this is the requirement for roofs with a 30° pitch and over. These UPVC Soffit boards bridge the gap between the wall and the rear facing side of the fascia board effectively closing it off whilst also allowing air access to the loft space to prevent condensation build up. We can also supply double-vented soffits for very low pitched or flat roofs - please contact us for further details (please note we are currently experiencing production problems for double vented soffits and therefore the ETA for special orders will be longer than usual).
Even where vapour permeable underlays have been used instead of bitumen based roof felts it is still likely that the amount of moisture carried into the roof space will exceed that which the underlay can deal with at certain times in the year, this could result in damp insulation so our Vented Soffit is an excellent solution for the eaves venting.
To match our UPVC Fascia, our Pre-Vented UPVC Soffits are available in White, Black Ash, Rosewood and Golden Oak.

Because of its high durability and easy to maintain nature, UPVC is a great choice of material for soffit boards.
You should first install fascia or capping boards and then soffit after that, and finally gutters!
UPVC soffit boards are completely waterproof, meaning that no moisture can penetrate the core of the boards – this prevents the boards from rotting, splitting, or warping over time.
