How to install Aluminium Downpipes

When installing your aluminium downpipes, we advise that you ensure the fixing background is in good and stable condition making sure that it will support the downpipe and that you have sufficient clips and brackets in place to secure the load.

During the installation, you should start from the outlet at the top of the system and work downwards towards the gully.

Make sure you have the right combination of offsets, bends, branches and downpipes to complete the installation.

Clips should be fitted at a maximum of 2m intervals and the correct stainless steel fixings and plugs should be used dependent on the material that you are fixing your installation onto.

Sealant should be applied to the inside of the pipe socket prior to the installation.

Cutting and Drilling your downpipes

Downpipes may be cut using standard metalworking tools - however, the use of angle grinders is not recommended. Where downpipes are powder coated, the edges should be cut and then de-burred before repainting using touch-up paint.

Joining aluminium downpipes and fittings

All surfaces should be clean and dry before the use of sealant during fitting. Our low modulus sealant must be used during installation.

Fixing your aluminium downpipes

It is important that fixings are suitable for the load and material. It is recommended that stainless steel screws are used to fit downpipes and all fittings!
